At CARBONTECK we only manufacture clutch/ignition covers that are attached to your bike with silicone - NOT bolt-on covers. The reason for this is that a bolt-on cover is only a dust cover, and will only protect against scratches. With a bolt-on cover the impact will go right through the carbon cover and crack/break the aluminium cover with pieces flying everywhere and causing major damage. With a CARBONTECK cover, fitted with silicon in the correct way, a high impact might crack or break it, but there will be no leak damage and all the broken pieces will stay intact. We have tasked an engineer at the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa, to test 5 of our covers to see how strong our product is and the results were outstanding. The composition of a standard clutch/ignition cover is 2 layers of 170g twirl carbon, 1 layer of Kevlar, 2 layers of 600g biaxl glass and 1 layer of 400g twirl glass. We use the same infusing technique as with our exhaust guards but we use a different epoxy.
